my friend who previously fired me has taken to running out of the classroom and into the hallway. he also loves sprinting down the first grade hallway whenever he rounds the corner. so of course i made a simple social story on walking in school and how we all walk in the hallway.
it wasn't working. the running continued.
yesterday when we were walking in the hallway he looked at me and said, "where is this?"
"this?"
"where we are?"
"this is the hallway"
"oh. the hallway. we don't run in the hallway!"
all this time he knew not to run in the hallway, i just forgot to tell him what the hallway was.
time to step back and be literal with everything.
